If you have read our Family History, you know that our dental practice has been a family affair for Dr. Patrick McGuire. Everyone on our team is honored to work in a practice that has been committed to compassionate, superb dentistry for almost 150 years. We take that honor seriously by being a friendly, knowledgeable team that works closely with Dr. Patrick McGuire to provide your family with empathetic care and high-quality dentistry.
F. Patrick McGuire, DDS
As a child growing up in Sylva, F. Patrick McGuire became interested in dentistry after seeing his parents, grandparents, and relatives caring for patients in the family practice. That’s why he entered the School of Dentistry at Emory University after graduating from Pfeiffer College in 1975. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1980, Dr. Patrick McGuire continued his family’s legacy by joining the practice.
Everyone always comments on Dr. Patrick McGuire’s pleasant and caring chairside manner. He enjoys meeting new patients and spending time getting to know them. Dr. Patrick McGuire can discuss different treatments and therapies with you since he continues to follow the latest research and advancements in dentistry. He is a Pankey Institute graduate and has also studied under dentistry leaders, like John Kois, Jack Turbyfill, and John Cranham. His commitment to learning has helped him earn fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Patrick McGuire also refines his skills as a member of the Florida Prosthodontic Study Club.
Dr. Patrick McGuire is a member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Association. Most recently, he was selected to be the president of the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. Outside of the office, Dr. Patrick McGuire volunteers his time with the Sylva Rotary Club and the United Methodist Church. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren

Natalie Sumner – Registered Dental Hygienist
If it’s been a while since you visited the dentist, Natalie can gently and thoroughly clean your teeth as well as take x-rays and digital photos of your mouth. She’s a friendly, fun member of our team who received her dental hygiene degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in 1999. After hours, Natalie enjoys being with her family, spending time outdoors, and traveling. |

Robin Rickman– Registered Dental Hygienist
Robin enjoys meeting new patients and cleaning their teeth. She can answer any of your dental hygiene questions or show you how to improve your brushing or flossing techniques. Robin received her dental hygiene degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in 1996. As a proud mother, she loves going places with her family and reading. |
Sonya Haggart – Dental Assistant
Sonya, one of our gifted dental assistants, has certification in DANB, CPR, and X-rays. She assists Dr. Patrick with restorative and esthetic cases and particularly enjoys seeing smiles transformed. Her care and compassion make her a great asset to our support team. After hours, Sonya spends time with her husband and kids in the great outdoors or in her own yard, gardening.

Jenny Demos – Dental Assistant
Always a friendly, upbeat person, Jenny helps our patients stay comfortable while helping Dr. Patrick McGuire perform the treatments they need. She also maintains the sterile environment of our operatories before and after their visits. Jenny graduated from Rowan Cabarrus Community College in 2003. A Morehead City native, she enjoys spending free time with her family and friends, listening to music, sampling wine, and traveling. |
Front Desk
Emily Cooper - Front Desk Coordinator
Emily answers the phone and warmly welcomes all of our patients to our practice. She can help you with scheduling and insurance matters during your visit. She received an Associate in Applied Science-Accounting degree from Southwestern Community College in 2006. Outside of the office, she loves to go for long walks, paint, and read good books. |

Jeanne McGuire
Jeanne has been an integral part of our practice for more than 25 years. She is happy to talk to you about long-term financing if your dental care requires it. She graduated from Pfeiffer University in 1976. After hours, she is a mother and grandmother who enjoys needlework, sewing, and yoga. She also likes to travel with Dr. Patrick McGuire to dental association conferences, advanced training, and study club meetings. |
